New Citroën DS5 release date for the UK: 02/04/2012
New Citroën DS5 price for the UK: £22,400 to £32,000
The UK market has been eagerly awaiting the arrival of new Citroën DS5, already voted Family Car of the Year by Top Gear magazine. It is now on sale and the full details about DS5 prices and specifications have been released. It will be priced from £22,400 up to £32,200 for the top-of-the-line DSport Hybrid4 version. And don't worry, you won't have to wait long for the DS5 UK release date!
As well as uniquely sleek exterior lines and an aviation-inspired interior with a three-part glass roof, the big news is that it is the first production Citroën to be offered with a Hybrid4 full-hybrid diesel engine.
This very special powertrain offers a healthy 200bhp and CO2 emissions are just 99g/km. This version has plenty of great features to make sure the drivers get the best results for the environment while still enjoying a stunning ride. The power is split between a 163bhp diesel engine and a 37bhp electric motor fitted to the rear axle. The gearbox is an automated six-speed manual and there are four operating modes - AUTO, which is activated by default on start up, the Auto mode optimises fuel consumption by automatically switching between the diesel engine and the electric motor, ZEV for speeds up to 60km/h (37mph), the Zero Emissions Vehicle mode enables the car to be driven using the electric motor only, SPORT, which uses the electric motor in tandem with the diesel engine to provide extra power when the driver requires more responsive acceleration and 4WD which delivers power through all four wheels for rough ground or in low-grip conditions.
Four efficient Euro V engines are available. As well as the new 200bhp diesel electric Hybrid4, there is also the THP 200, e-HDi 110 and the HDi 160. The Hybrid4 has excellent green credentials as does the e-HDi 110 Airdream. It features new-generation Stop & Start micro-hybrid technology that reduces CO2 emissions by up to 15% when driving in congested urban areas. Meanwhile, the turbocharged, direct injection petrol engine, co-developed with BMW, is a fine performer.
There are also great gearboxes on offer - a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic and a six-speed EGS, an automated manual system.
All variants seat five people in comfort and offer up to 465 litres of boot space. There are eight body colours, including metallic and pearlescent paints, six alloy wheel designs and nine upholstery options to choose from, including 'Club' leather and cloth as well as two-tone colour schemes and a 'watchstrap' effect on the seats. LED lighting appears throughout the interior in intermittent reds and whites and it is quiet inside thanks to laminated windows and acoustic treatments.
The Creative Technologie features include keyless access and start, smart beam headlights, colour head-up display, reversing camera with colour screen, electric lumbar adjustment and massage function on the driver's seat, dual-zone air conditioning, programmable speed limited and cruise control, and an all-new Lane Departure Warning System. On Hybrid4 models, the display changes from white to blue during Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) mode.
Safety is very important with DS5, attaining the maximum 5-star Euro NCAP test rating, including a 97% Safety Assist score. There is also plenty of active safety equipment (EBD, EBA, ABS, ESP, intelligent traction control) and powerful brakes - thanks in particular to 340mm diameter front discs on most versions.
Quite simply, new DS5 is the C-SportLounge concept car made into a stunning production reality. The eye-catching design details have already been captured by talented photographers, most notably in a stunning photo shoot alongside another icon of French engineering excellence, the Concorde. Touches such as pronounced air intakes, a chrome grille, chrome twin exhausts, and LED light signatures have already marked the DS5 as a car that stands out from the crowd.
The on sale date is 2 April 2012.
